(New York), 5 1/4 x 7 5/8 inches tall black cloth haredcover, no dust jacket, blind emboss design to front cover, gilt lettering to spine, viii, 307 pp. Slight to moderate soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with mild bumping to all four tips. Spine is very slightly cocked. Nicely inscribed and signed by the author in the year of issue on the blank front free-endpaper. Prolific U.S. author Parker Hoysted Fillmore (1878â1944) is probably best remembered today for his books of folktales and fairy tales for children drawn from the folklore of Central and Northern Europe. One of his best-known works is Czechoslovak Fairy Tales and Folk Tales (1919), a collection of 15 classic Czech, Slovak, and Moravian folktales. Another is The Shoemakerâs Apron (1920).
