Baker & Company, 1935. xviii, 195p., superior presswork on alkaline semicoated paperstock, first edition buckram boards spine-titled in black; a very sound clean copy that is a little dim externally, spine titling mildly obscure, stated on copyright page to be limited to 1,000 and signed by Johnson (but which is not signed by anyone). "Woodman, spare that tree! Sail on! sail on! One if by land and two if by sea." Merle manages to make much of this quite interesting. Mencken's forthrightness is itself quotable: "..there can be no doubt that most of the pieces assembled by Mr. Johnson pass for poetry, and even for noble poetry, in this great Republic..
