New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1971. First Edition. The first book in Farmer's "Riverworld" series, originally serialized in 'Worlds of Tomorrow' between 1965-66. In it, adventurer Sir Richard Burton finds himself resurrected on the banks of an endless river. He soon learns that he is only one of billions of people who have died on Earth and suddely are "living" again. Burton builds a boat and begins a journey to find the source of the river. A lovely advance copy of this science fiction highspot, winner of the Hugo Award in 1972. First Printing, a Review Copy, with a small rubber stamp to upper front endpaper reading: "REVIEW COPY / Materials Center / Broward County Schools / Jan 20 '71" - the date corresponding to month of publication, indicated by the code "7101" at lower front flap. Octavo; black cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine and in blind on front panel; 221pp, [2]. Spine ends gently nudged, else Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped, with some trivial rubbing at crown and heel.
