Sobre este artículo
NY: Doubleday, Page & Co, 1903. First thus. Hardcover. Very good. Later printing, 1920. An association copy: Unmarked, but from the library of Wallace Stegner. A non-authorial inscription, it seems, appears on the first blank. Includes the novellas "Youth: A Narrative," "Heart of Darkness," and "The End of the Tether." We don't know the extent of Stegner's sentiment toward Conrad, but surely he was an influence. Blue cloth with gilt. On the reader pastedown is the small bookstore label reading "The White House San Francisco -- Books." Very good with rubbing to corners and rear panel. Slight bowing to boards. Ghosting to front free endpaper. Still highly collectible as Stegner's reading copy of "Heart of Darkness

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
