Book Description:
This work describes the profound changes to Yucatán's society and economy following the 1982 debt crisis that prostrated Mexico's economy. The editors have assembled contributions from seasoned "Yucatecologists"—historians, geographers, cultural students, and an economist—to chart the accelerated change in Yucatán from a monocrop economy to a full beneficiary and victim of rampant globalization.
About the Authors:
The late Edward H. Moseley was Professor Emeritus of History and Director, Capstone International Center, University of Alabama, where he was also a former Director of Latin American Studies. He was co-editor of Yucatán in an Era of Globalization, with Eric N. Baklanoff and Peripheral Visions with Gilbert M. Joseph and Edward D. Terry. Edward D. Terry is Professor Emeritus of Spanish and Director of the Alfredo Barrera Vasquez Center for Yucatecan Studies at The University of Alabama. He is co-editor of Peripheral Visions With Gilbert M. Joseph and Edward H. Moseley.
