Bound in brown cloth with a gilt lettering and an illustration of a totem stamped on front cover; gilt lettering on spine. Slight dust soiling to top edge. Wear to extremities; front hinge starting. Copyright date listed as 1905, but preface is dated 1909. In 1903 the West Virginian author and wife went to Dawson via the Canadian Pacific Railway and then went the Skagway route to the Yukon in 1902, visiting miners and the cities and villages that became populated by the Klondike Gold Rush. ARCTIC BIB., 2451; SMITH, 2754 (second ed.); WICKERSHAM, 3914 (first and second eds.).
