A satire of undergraduate life at Oxford, it includes the famous line "Death cancels all engagements" and presents a corrosive view of Edwardian Oxford. Written by Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm, an English essayist, parodist and caricaturist He first became known in the 1890s as a dandy and a humorist. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
