Christmas

Penned during WWII, the story Christmas by Eleanor Roosevelt addresses the painful losses of war. Set in the occupied Netherlands, in 1940, this book tells the tale of a little Dutch girl named Marta, who struggles to find love and peace after her father is killed in the war.

This tale was originally published in 1940 as a short story in Liberty Magazine and then as a picture book in the same year by Knopf. The first edition features illustrations by German graphic designer and artist Fritz Kredel.

Otras ediciones de colección

A 1963 edition entitled Eleanor Roosevelt's Christmas Book also included Roosevelt's reminiscences of Christmas at Hyde Park and the White House. The original story was reprinted in 1986 as Christmas, 1940.
