The Yearling
de Rawlings, Marjorie Kinnan
The Yearling is a 1938 novel written by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. It won the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1939. Rawlings's editor was Maxwell Perkins, who also worked with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and other literary luminaries. She had submitted several projects to Perkins for his review, and he rejected them all. He instructed her to write about what she knew from her own life, and the result of her taking his advice was The Yearling.
Identificación de primeras ediciones
The Yearling was published in 1938 by Charles Scribner's and Sons in New York with an original price of $2.50. Being a Scribner's publication, the first edition has an "A" on the copyright page. The first issue of the yellow and teal jacket has a publisher's blurb in four paragraphs on the rear and includes a statement that it is a selection of the book of the month club, but there are no media reviews present. It contains 428 pages. -
Otras ediciones de colección
In 1939, Scribner's released a quarto limited edition with illustrations by N.C. Wyeth. Each of these 770 slipcased copies were signed by both Rawlings and Wyeth. 520 were bound in aqua cloth and 250 in a darker blue.
