First published [in paperback] in the U.S. by Berkely Publishing Corporation in 1969, this edition has been revised by the author." There was also a UK edition in 1969 by Sphere, also in Paperback. First printing, with complete number row (10 987654321) on the copyright page. [Note: the dust jacket art on this 1977 version is signed, but the signature is illegible, at least to me. Too bad, because the art is really neat. If you've seen the jacket painting Jim Burns did for the 1985 Harrap edition, there are a lot of similarities, particularly in the sailing ship and the snarling sea creatures.
