Mark L. Bradley is a historian at the U.S. Army Center of Military History in Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor s degree in history from North Carolina State University, and his master s and Ph.D. degrees in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His publications include Last Stand in the Carolinas: The Battle of Bentonville (Campbell, Calif., 1995), This Astounding Close: The Road to Bennett Place (Chapel Hill, N.C., 2000), and Bluecoats and Tar Heels: Soldiers and Civilians in Reconstruction North Carolina (Lexington, Ky., 2009)."
