Dust jacket is missing, but the inner front fold has been preserved in a plastic cover. The book has toning to the edges of the pageblock and a bit of shelfwear to the edges of the boards. A novel dealing with imaginary incidents in Casanova’s life when he was about to return to Venice as a spy and that he wrote a polemic against Voltaire subsequent to their meeting. It was one of the books (along with “Women in Love” by DH Lawrence and “Diary of a Young Girl” by Hermine Hug-Hellmuth seized in 1922 by John Sumner of the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice from publisher Thomas Seltzer. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
