The subject mater of Solman the printmaker differs from that of Solman the painter. In stead of the cityscapes and portraiture, here he depicts vehicles (especially motorcycles), cameras and garden furniture, although there are some figure studies and portraits. The artist's description of his various motype-making techniques take the medium far beyond the "mere" direct application of ink to copper or glass.
