It is an almost hourly record of the crew of the yawl Caribbee, their hopes and fears, their moments of exultation and of exhaustion in cold fog and blazing sunshine, hard driving and maddening drifting. Carleton Mitchell won the prestigious Newport Bermuda Race a record three consecutive times, and chronicled the joys and challenges of sailing in his books, magazine articles and photographs.
