Descripción:
Jean Helion's work is generally divided into three periods: preabstract, from 1926 to 1929; abstract from 1929 to 1939; and representational art, from 1939 to the present (1970's). But this distinction and others that once seemed important have today lost a great deal of their significance. The further Helion progresses the freer he becomes: in his use of form, of all sorts of forms; in his use of color, of all colors; in his manner of ridiculing the commonplace. The works executed in his later years are the output of a man who, having explored the entire realm of painting is finally free to do as he chooses.
