This is a pristine first edition of The Strawberry Hill Set, Horace Walpole and His Circle, written in 1983 by the British biographer Brian Fothergill. It is a fascinating and entertaining book about the people who frequented Strawberry Hill, the fabulous London villa of Horace Walpole, which is now a museum.Walpole, the Earl of Orford, was a politician, writer, collector and art historian who had a wide variety of amusing friends. His circle included the English poet Thomas Gray, the singer and entertainer Kitty Clive, King George's mistress Henrietta Howard, and numerous politicians, artists, architects and socialites. The goings-on at Strawberry Hill were legendary.277 pages, with photographs.This copy does not appear to have been read, or even opened. Its only flaw is that the owner wrote his initial on the inside front cover.Other than that, it's in mint condition.
