Audience: Children/juvenile. This much-loved, wonderfully illustrated story of a bigger brother impatient to run outside to play ball, but trying to do as his mother asked. She was at her easel, paintbrushes in hand. "Go and hush the baby, Will, it won't take long, go and hush the baby, sing him a little song". His singing brought a smile, but on turning on his heels, the baby in his crib became sad again. Will gets creative, trying to hush the baby. And so it went while Mom completed her art task, then took the cookies out of the oven while warming the baby's bottle. This was a favorite among my three children.
