Jamie has just transferred to an all-girls' school, where being friendless is painful. But acceptance into this group is more than just friendship -- it's acceptance into a secret clique, the Secret Circle, and comes with an entrance fee: Jamie must pass two tests, one of bravery and one of loyalty. As she puts first her boasts of fearlessness and then her oath of loyalty on the line, she begins to wonder if the price of this friendship is too great -- but not until the ultimate test causes damage and harm to her elderly neighbor and friend. In this novel of friendship, the desperation to belong, and the desire to be accepted at all costs, Jamie pays dearly with the knowledge thatsome steps, once taken, can't be re-crossed.
