Another, non-authorial, gift inscription reads, "for Mary Barker,/in kind appreciation for/including me in the planning/and activities of the visit/of the first Canadian astronaut/ to Fredericton, Nov. 30, 1984/sincerely/Gary Whiteford/UNB" (Whiteford was a geology professor at the University of New Brunswick, and was well-known as a world traveller and huge baseball fan -- he died in 2013).
