The records show that many of the men who came into this area beore the county was organized were Revolutionary soldiers and that their wives in many cases were daughters of soldiers of that war. Many were given land grants for service rendered their country. Some brought their slaves from as far east as Massachusetts. Their wills show that besides land, slaves and stock, they possessed furniture of the best make. They were mostly people of education, as their letters and signatures testify. This book is divided into five parts.
