Addressed to Ralph G. Newman (1911-98), noted founder of Chicago's Abraham Lincoln Book Shop. Near fine. Hanchett had asked Newman to critique an essay he wrote on chemist and Lincoln scholar Otto Eisenschiml (1880-1963), author of "Why Was Lincoln Murdered?" (1937) and other provocative Civil War titles and Newman's co-editor of the 1947 anthology "The American Iliad: The Epic Story of the Civil War as Narrated by Eyewitnesses and Contemporaries."
