Dust smudging to the bottom page edges, and moderate rubbing to the boards. Robert W. Young, linguist, was born on May 18, 1912 in Chicago. He earned his BA from the University of Illinois in 1935, then enrolled in anthropology at the University of New Mexico (UNM) where he began a career working with the Navajo language. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World Was II, where he earned special merit as an Indian Interpreter,and where his fluency in Navajo was utilized in the testing and selection of Navajos trained as Code Talkers.
