Giambattista Valli Tapa dura - 2013

de Giambattista Valli; Introduction by Francesco Clemente; Lee Radziwill ()

Información de la editorial

A unique insight into one of the most creative and romantic fashion designers working today. When the Roman designer Giambattista Valli launched his own line in Paris in 2005, few would have anticipated the influence he would ultimately wield on contemporary design. Lauded as the heir to the giants of twentieth-century Italian fashion, Valli and his designs herald a return to romance and an elegant femininity, melding a sense of fantasy with lean, modern lines. Impeccably tailored, meticulously detailed, and luxuriously crafted, his collections are crucial passages in contemporary fashion history, attended by everyone from royalty to A-list Hollywood celebrities. This book offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of one of the most unique fashion designers working today, with images of his design process and backstage views of runway shows. The volume includes booklets with details of Valli's lushly complex fabrics and clothing.

Reseñas en medios

“…celebrates the designer’s multidimensional creations through sketches, exclusive backstage photographs and musings from A-list Valli girls…” ~Harper’s Bazaar

“His first book is a richly illustrated look at both his creative process and the intricacy of his craft.” ~Wall Street Journal

“The first and most obvious feature of this book is its grand scale. This is most definitely not a book with which to curl up in bed with to get lulled off to sleep. No, this is an epic chronicle of a designer whose youth contradicts the formidable size of this paean to his talents. For this seasoned reader, the most telling of the segments were written by Franca Sozzani and Candy Pratts Price as these describe him in the most glowingly adoring tones...this is a coffee table book that ranks up there with the best of them and is surely a volume that is not overly encumbered by prose and explanations; Giambattista Valli is a book of fashion which speaks to those of us who embrace fashion in its many incarnations.” ~New York Journal of Books

“This stunning volume offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Valli’s world…” ~Front Desk New York

“This Roman-born designer opens up his back stage and his sketchbook, exposing us to his raw creative journey.” ~Society Diaries

“…A big but surprisingly light tome…the opportunity of seeing the handwork close up..gives a genuine insight into the fashion story.” ~International Herald Tribune

“…His first book brilliantly captures the complex essence of his ethereal materialism. Valli’s first volume is infused with depth, grace and soul often forgotten in a world that fetishes the new. It is ideal for those who believe design and fashion are still time-honored traditions that capture the human spirit.” ~Identity Magazine

“Rizzoli’s new monograph on the Roman fashion force, which includes artistic images that inspire him.” ~W Magazine
