The biography of Jerome Kern collector of where books, coins, silver and stamps; brilliant conversationalist and musical innovator. In the early part of the 20th century he created a distinctly American musical with Show Boat, and thereby throwing off the German-European domination of musical theatre; wrote over a thousand songs of which many have become classics – 'Ol' Man River' and 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes'– to name but two.
