Descripción:
Oaklands Park: Pioneer Books. 1998. Trade paperback. Very good.. 127 p. Audience: General/trade. . In 1933 Willard S. Karn was poised for the big time in bridge. He had captured the most important title sin America over the past couple of year. s He had published his first book, with plans for more, and had been ranked 1st on Shepard Barclay's "The First Ten in Contract Bridge" in 1932. He was 34 years old and married to a princess. If one person on his own could throw out a meaningful challenge to Culbertson's multi-million dollar bridge empire, Karn was the likely candidate. Like Culbertson, he was often a winner at high-stakes rubber bridge. Some thought too often a winner. In 1933 Karn was accused of cheating at rubber bridge in Culbertson's club. From that moment his tournament bridge career was over. He was no longer a threat. Culbertson could rest easy.
