This volume is a collection and study of seven poems written in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick between 1779 and 1814. Each are narrative satires. The poems included are: Character of a Trimmer (1779) by Jacob Bailey; "On Renaming Port Roseway after Lord Shelburne" (1783) by Jacob Bailey; "The Adventures of Jack Ramble, the Methodist Preacher (c. 1787-1795) buy Jack Bailey; "Creon" (1802) by Samuel Denny Street; "The Inquisition" (1805) by Alexander Croke; The Agonizing Dilemma" (1812) by Jonathan Odell; "The Times. A Squabble" (1814) by an anonymous author. Each poem is introduced with a biography of the author and background of the historical context for the subject of the poem.This copy is in good condition. There is some wear to the cover, and some creasing. The spine is broken in one area, which has caused one page to come loose, but the rest of the pages are still tightly attached to the binding.
