An award-winning communications professional with writing, production, and on-camera experience in multi-media formats, Janet Martin has produced network television news and documentary programs, conducting exclusive interviews in settings ranging from palatial governors' mansions to maximum-security prisons. She has worked for CNN News and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) in Georgia and Virginia. Recruited by the University of Virginia, she developed a news service department and joined the Drama Department to teach undergraduate students television news writing and production. She earned a Master's of Science in Journalism degree, mid-career, from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York. She holds a BA from Emory University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Vanderbilt. Her work, both fiction and nonfiction, has appeared in national magazines, including Guideposts and Family Circle. Currently Martin is crafting a historical novel about four young women from the deep South embroiled in the political and social currents of the 1960s.
