Clay Hutto grew to manhood in Oklahoma in the '70s and experienced many of the adventures and relationships described in this novel. Since graduating with honors from his home town college, he's traveled abroad and throughout the United States and held a series of mostly insignificant jobs while writing in his spare time. He's published short stories in obscure literary magazines, worked as a sports writer, feature writer, and critic on several newspapers, and taught journalism, creative writing, and literature at universities and colleges around the country. He's married to a wonderfully patient and supportive wife who tolerates his eccentricity, and he dotes on his three pets: a dog named Earl, a cat named Maynard, and a cockatoo named Gilbert. He lives in the beautifully drizzly Pacific Northwest and doesn't own a raincoat.
