It was 1962, and the so-called Cold War was heavily slanted toward the United States, but Soviet Premier Khrushchev had a plan. First, he would secretly place a single SS-14 SANDAL guided missile complete with an atomic warhead in Cuba, aimed at Washington, D.C., as a deterrent. Then, he would flood the island with massive amounts of missiles that would swing world power to the Soviet Union. His plan was well thought out, and would have worked, had it not been for a couple of American sailors and a Soviet dissentient, who were tossed into the mix. Hurricane Eliza roared alongside Cuba and deposited Sam Higgins and Paul Rutland into the hands of the Cuban army. After escaping from the Cubans and making their way toward Guantanamo, they located the lone missile. They knew they must stop the missile from being fired on the United States, but they also knew they may have to depend on a Russian military officer to pull it off. Just as they put their plan into action, the missile lifted off.
