Rita Makkannaw immigrated to Canada with her family at age 9. After enduring a sexually charged incident with her father, she ran away from home at age 16. She entered into an abusive marriage, but managed to obtain an education, career and raise two children, in spite of her troubles. Then in 1986, at age 41, Rita began to have many spiritual experiences, discovering in her process a completely new world. A world filled with magic that she did not understand. She began to search for answers to what was happening to her. In that search, she met and fell in love with a Cree First Nations Medicine man, Raven Makkannaw. With her new relationship, she began a twenty year apprenticeship in spirituality, Native history, and philosophy. Raven and Rita devoted their lives to bringing understanding and harmony to the world. After the loss of her husband Raven, Rita returned to Denmark, where she held seminars in personal power, communication in harmony, spirituality in everyday life and more. She also shared about her life and how the philosophy she learned from the North American Native elders, creates harmony within ourselves as individuals, as members of families, our communities and the world. Rita now resides in Alberta, Canada where she continues her work. She has traveled extensively including the US, Europe, Virgin Islands and the Canary Islands. She continues the work of creating harmony within individuals and between people in all aspects of our lives.
