Robbi Pounds grew up outside of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where she was spoiled rotten by her two wonderful parents. As a first-generation college student attending on scholarship, she earned her BA in English at the University of Southern Mississippi. She then studied fiction writing at the university's Center for Writers. She has taught English from the fifth grade to the college level. Pounds moved to New Orleans in 2002, where she worked as an instructor at the University of New Orleans, Loyola University, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Delgado Community College, among others. She currently lives on her wooded ten acre farm, which is, illogically enough, within New Orleans' city limits. Since 2012, she has taught horseback riding to both children and adults. She still teaches English part-time and is writing a pilot script about her parents' early years.
