From the moment her older sister gave her a copy of "Jane Eyre" at age twelve, author Tola Adenle knew she would be hooked on literature for the rest of her life.

After switching careers from business to writing, Adenle was offered a position at Nigeria's "The Daily Sketch" and rose from a features writer to editor of the women's affairs pages. She later founded and edited "Emotan," a woman's magazine, from 1977 to 1984.

Adenle has published several books, including a compilation of short stories, "Deeper by a Tear," and a biography of her late father.

Since March 2011, Adenle has maintained emotanafricana.com, a blog devoted to politics, the arts, society, and sports.

Adenle has been married for forty-six years and has four children and seven grandchildren. She is passionate about books, sports, and music.
