The book follows the exhibit "Give Them Shelter: It's Not for Everyone," and is made up of 80 photos of art work submitted by architects across the country. Because the competition did not require compliance with state and local building codes, the result is the free-flowing imaginative process of architects at their best and least restricted. The thought-provoking images on the paradox of nuclear blast and survival offer at once subtlety and wry humor.
