Descripción de la solapa
"Davis has lassoed the familiar rhymes and filled them with a plethora of places and folklore, from Galveston to Ft. Worth."
--School Library Journal
When Mother Goose flies to Texas,
She saddles her magic bird,
Wearing cowboy boots and silver spurs,
With twinkling stars to herd.
Out of the Texas sky she glides,
To children down below;
Circling past the cotton clouds,
She lands near the Alamo.
This charming and enchanting collection of poetry retells the classic Mother Goose tales with a Texan twist. This fun Texas romp through more than fifty nursery rhymes yields such results as "Mary Had a White-Faced Calf," "There Was an Old Cowgirl Who Lived in a Boot," "Cactus Jack Horner," and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Texas Star." This book will delight all ages with its unforgettable Texan flavor, as Humpty Dumpty falls and turns into a plate of huevos rancheros and Little Miss Toni eats a biscuit and jerky. The vibrant, colorful illustrations combined with lively vocabulary that Texan children and parents love encourage young readers to laugh and learn as they follow along.
