Colbeck was going to write an account of the voyages but when this didn’t happen Doorly undertook the effort. He produced not only a very interesting, pleasant and readable first hand account but also one of the scarcest books of Antarctic exploration. The book records the discovery of Scott Island and the first landing on Beaufort Island, and personal impressions of the Southern party upon their return..
