In 1809 Sayeghir travelled with [ or claimed to have travelled with ] Napoleon's secert agent M Lascaris de Ventimiglia as he travelled with the Bedouins in Mesopotamia. Lascaris, after the overthrow of Napoleon kept his secerts to himself, his notes destroyed. Sayeghir's diary was translated & published by the Orientalist Lamartine. A fascinating account of life with the tribes of Iran & Iraq.

Summary: Fatalla Sayeghir was the assistant to a Napoleonic spy, de Lascaris, who undertook an extended mission amongst the Arab peoples. From 1809, Fatella Sayeghir accompanied, or claimed to have done so, Napoleon's secret agent on an extended mission among the Bedouin tribes of Mespotamia and the Euphrates Valley. Lascades died before he could share the information he gathered with Napoleon and the notes he left were allegedly destroyed by the British, but a French orientalist acquired Sayghir's diary and writings and published it in 1835/1836.
