It is unusual to see a work dedicated to the guys fighting on the pointy end of the stick; the Motorcycle Infantry and the Reconnaissance/Messenger Battalions. These units were uniquely qualified to make the point thrust into the Eastern Front thanks to their mobility and versatility. Unfortunately, these units were pretty much short-lived since the resupply of motorcycles and parts eventually put them back on Shanks Mare and they continued as foot soldiers by about 1943 in the East.
