Denmark 2013. Cultural centers and suburbs are two poles in the dialectic of the 1960’s amd 1970’s . Cultural centers basically sesrched for uniqueness as well as roots in an architectural culture, while plans for housing aimed at standardisation, adaption to production and large scale. But the dialectics, as shown in the articles here, are more complex than that. The Nordic version of modernism had its special characteristics, which more and more catch the interest of international architectural historians. There the largely unknown relations between the Nordic and the Baltic countries during the Soviet times are of special interest. This is a new field of research in the Baltic countries and some original contributions are presented in this book.
