Contemporary full calf, covers decoratively bordered in blind, spines with four wide raised bands, decoratively tooled in gilt and blind in compartments, two green morocco labels lettered in gilt, blind-stamped board edges and turn-ins, all edges gilt. London: S. Bladon, 1779-1781. Hardcover. Very Good+. Contemporary speckled calf, gilt-ruled spine, gilt-stamped lettering in red leather spine label; 5 volumes, 8vo; with 22 engraved plates. Publication dates and plate counts for individual volumes are as follows: I (1781, 8 plates), II (1780, 4 plates), III (1779, 6 plates), IV (1780, 1 plate), V (1780, 3 plates). Two more volumes were issued later. Spines a little dry; some light scuffing and bumping on boards and spines; thin cracks at joints, but holding just fine. Text blocks are nice and clean. File it under law, file it under humor, file it under erotica -- the plates indulge in portraying adulterous couples in flagrante delicto. The title says it all.
