An amusing book about one Friday night in New York's Greenwich Village in the early-mid 1960s. The illustrations were done by the artist taking slides of many people (including author Norman Spinrad and author/editor John Silbersack) acting out the novel, then taking the pictures away and drawing sketches from them. This is one of 500 hardbound copies, but not one of the 200 numbered and signed copies -- it is, however, signed by Anderson on the half-title. The cream-colored boards show some smudges, and the spine is slightly discolored -- inside, the book is clean and nice. tw

Chester Anderson was author of The Butterfly Kid (1967) and was the impresario of the communications company in San Francisco during the summer of love. His other books include the gay classic Puppies. Despite the statement on the colophon, most copies (as here) were signed only by the author. A remarkable visual record of a vanished world.
