Green cloth with black/gilt titles and decoration. Spine is faded with chips and tears at the head/tail. Corners are bumped and frayed. Front hinge a little loose, but binding intact. Boards are stained and scuffed. Overall, condition is GOOD.. Hard Cover. Good.

With frontispiece, folding map, and numerous text illustrations and plates. John Hanson Beadle (1840-1897) journalist and author, editor Salt Lake Reporter. His book ÔLife in UtahÕ has become one of the most prominent anti-Mormon books from the 19th century.

Illustrated.

Two engraved frontispieces (portraits of leading Mormons and the Temple then being constructed in Salt Lake City) and fold-out map in front, plus many engraved text illustrations. 608 pages plus two pages of ads. Title page states: "Issued by subscription only, and not for sale in the book stores." Contemporary owner name in neat script dated in year of publication on front flyleaf otherwise very good.
