Very good in the handsome Beaton-designed dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but a little rubbed and tanned, and chipped with several small areas of loss from the spine ends and several corner tips, and one further small area of enclosed loss from the spine panel..

NF/VG+. 2nd Edition. 16.4 x 23.8 cm fuchsia cloth with gilt stamped titles to the spine viii, 136 pp with 95pp of black and white photographic illustrations including frontispiece. In original price clipped dust jacket. Clean boards and internally, without name, inscription or bookplate and just a little spotting mainly to the edge of the text block and prelims. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) and presents very well. It is clean and bright with a little scuff at the bottom of the front panel. There is a 3 x 1 cm chip on the top of the rear panel that has been secured by tape on the rear. There is a 1.5 cm closed tear at the bottom of the rear panel and 1.8 and 0.5 cm closed tears on the foot of the spine all of which are reinforced by tape to the rear. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) has a 0.7 cm chip to the head of the spine that has had some restoration work. There is tape to the rear of the jacket on the spine tips and a 1.2 cm closed tear at the top of the upper panel. The corners, edges an spine tips are a little rubbed and there is a touch of creasing along the top and bottom edges. Association copy, inscribed by Beaton to actress Harriette Johns, who had starred in Alexander Korda's 1947 movie 'An Ideal Husband' for which Beaton designed the costumes. Red cloth covers with green titles to spine. Some wear to the covers and the titles along the spine are near illegible through wear, one inch split at the bottom of spine has been repaired, small 'The Times book Club' stamp to rear pastedown. A very good copy.
