'From the author' written in pencil to front endpaper. Minor foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Some subtle looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild sunning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier sunning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

With a thought to Bacchus in Particular and A Humble Recognition of the Wisdom of Others and Letter-Preface by H. Warner Allen. Folded color map of the Wine Districts of France (small spot). Berry was then a wine merchant partnered with his brother Frances Berry and Hugh Rudd operating Berry Bros. & Rudd, a company started in 1698 by widow Bourne near St. James's Palace, which proved to be an ideal location for supplying wines to the royal family which it has done since the reign of George III. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 389 pages .

Inscribed to Miss Mira Van Pelt and dated 22.viii.39 and signed by author followed by a note to her about a visitation from her father and Berry's initials, followed by a three-line stanza by Berry. In red cloth covers with gilt lettering on spine. Square and intact binding. Clean and unmarked text pages. Bumping of ends of spine. Water ring stain and others on back cover. Missing foldout map. Photos upon request. . Signed by Author. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Spine faded, with some fading to edges of boards. Authors inscription to front endpaper “To A. A. Moller, with an arnuance that in the reading of this little book lives any pleasure to a valued friend, then is the author well repaid and his labour justified. Charles W. Bell. 4.X(10).35.” Pages all very clean and tight. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 390pp. Large fold out coloured map at rear. The author travels in France visiting vinyards and describing his journey.
