Gilt top page edges. There are 10 "conversations" in all, including with a Debutante, a Left-Over Girl, a Gym Girl, a Heroine, a Clubwoman, a Cynic, a Chaperon, a Nice Man, an Engaged Girl, and a Bride.Condition:The salmon cloth color has faded on the spine, and along the top edges of the covers; sharp corners. Bright gilt top page edges. Nice interior - the pages are clean with only a smudge at the outer edge of page 22, and a small tear at the bottom edge of page 23. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.

Head and tail of spine and corners are bumped and rubbed with a small chip missing from tail of spine and top front corner. Side and bottom edges untrimmed. Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs of the period. Binding in fair, interior in overall good+ condition.

Front hinge tender, carelessly opened, owner's name on flyleaf, cover somewhat faded and little worn at corners and ends of spine, o/w VG. Archly humorous. Black was a well-known photographer of women in the 1890s.
