Near-fine (slight spine slant) with sunning to white lettering on spine and two pages with slight corner creases, otherwise bright and clean inside and out. With many full-page photos. A beautiful copy of Washington's follow-up to his classic "Up From Slavery.

Exterior shows some spotting and soiling, gilt on spine is dulled. The internal binding is good though there is some pulling in spots. Illustrated throughout with photographs, all of which have been verified as being present. The copyright page shows single publication date of May, 1904. This book came from the collection of Miss Sallie E. Robinson, who was a very prominent African-American from the Philadelphia area, and her signature appears on the rear pastedown. No other handwriting noted, no bookplates, no library markings etc.

Minor binding error beginning as a crease to the front paste down and progressively diminishing until about page 40. In a Near Fine dust jacket with wear at the extremities, small chips, trivial stains to top edge of front panel, toning and small abrasion to the spine panel.
