Fine condition but for light soiling around the edge of front free endpaper. Dust jacket has minor rubbing to extremities and top of spine has 1/8" tears. Brassai and Miller were friends in 1930s Paris although Miller subsequently downplayed that friendship. . Inscribed By Author. First Edition. Softcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Paris, le 29 dec 1975'; pp 264, [1], with 16 crisp photogravures of people and places from Miller’s life in Paris; wrapper with a few short edge tears (two with discreet tape repairs) and some wear along the spine, contents clean and bright; a very good inscribed copy. Photographer, sculptor, writer, and filmmaker Brassaï's tribute to his friend, American writer Henry Miller (1891-1980). It was Miller who first called Brassaï 'the eye of Paris', alluding to his supreme talent as a photographer. The first edition of this work appeared in a limited edition of 25 copies.

With the author/photographer's signed presentation inscription to the half title page, 'Pour Monsieur Michel Moine en amical hommage de Brassai le 18 Nov 1975'. The recipient was a French journalist and writer on parapsychology. A service de press copy with the discrete 'S.P.' perforated stamp to the lower wrappers and last two leaves.
