When Brown is good, he is very, very good and "The Screaming Mimi" is one of those. An Irish, alcoholic newspaper reporter in Chicago is so affected by the beauty of the fourth victim of a serial killer that he sobers up enough to begin his own hunt for the killer. As he gets close to his goal, he finds himself the target of madness and death. The book became the basis for a 1958 movie starring Anita Eckberg and Gypsy Rose Lee.
