"Originally published in 1909, this is a description of the Choctaw culture in Louisiana. The writer was in lower Louisiana, the greater part of the time being spent in St. Tammany parish, on the northern shore of Lake Pontchartrain, not far from New Orleans. During this period frequent visits were made to the few Choctaw still living near Bayou Lacomb, in the parish. The notes obtained as a result of those visits are now presented on the following pages......

Internal binding is good and text pages are tight, no hinge issues. Beautiful marbled end pages and pastedowns and front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates. This volume contains 37 pages of text and 22 pages of plate photographs. About 50% of the pages are blank in this was likely done for spacing purposes for the deluxe binding. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present though mainly to the blank pages. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings.
