The bindings are lightly rubbed & bumped and the head & tails of the spines are lightly chipped. The labels are foxed with pieces out. 207 pages; 212 pages; and 240 pages. Vol. 2 is lightly cracked at p. 116. There are short tears to the front edges of 2 pages in Vol. 3. Good.

Slipcase missing. 2001 re-issue of the 1989 edition. Books in very good condition. Volume I marked with a crayon (?) across title on spine. Others show some soiling to text block but quite faint. Some wear around extremities. Red cloth on boards bright. A very good set. .

Edition and printing not known. The three volumes are in good plus olive green calf with decorative owl vignette to front; brown leather spine with gilt titles and decoration. The front cover of Volume I is detached; the covers of Volumes II and III are firm. All volumes are edge-worn and fairly clean. The three volumes have slightly tanned free end papers; the paste downs are quite clean. All have gilt top cut edges and slightly tanned tail and fore edges. Good book blocks for all; tightly bound, straight and unmarked - very good condition. With decorative red and black title fields; frontispieces with tissue guards. Without jackets. A nice little set. Overall condition good due to covers of Volume I.

Measurements are for one volume. Full maroon calf with gilt double line edging on the boards. Green title plates, raised banding with gilt lettering and squared decoration on the (faded to tan) spine.
