One B&W illustration in each volume with tipped-in protective tissue. Black cloth (faded) with gilt lettering and publisher medallion on spine; gilt medallion on front.FON on FFEP of each volume.Covers are faded, stained, and bumped, with fraying on the of spines. Pages are age tanned with occasional stains and chipping. Some interior cracking.

Covers are in very good condition otherwise making for an easy rebind. FEP has 21/2 x 33/4 simple b/w paper pasteup showing library ownership and presented by Mrs. H. Drummer. Because spine is missing front cover is completely separated and rear is literally hanging by a thread. Endpapers are a bit damaged at hinge. Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1867. Hardcover. Good. 10 Volumes, sold together. Likely incomplete as a set. Ticknor & Fields, 1867-1868 illustrated editions. Blue cloth bindings with "The [Dickens's signature] Edition" in gilt on front board, gilt titling on spine. Full page illustrated plates by Cruikshank, Leech, Phiz, and others (16 in the Christmas Books/Boz vol., 10 in three others, eight in the rest). All volumes in good condition. A few partial separations/gaps between signature, but bindings on the whole are firm and fully intact; gilt titling/decoration remains bright and bold; light to moderate amount of wear to edges of boards, some fraying of cloth at spine ends; very faint dust smudging to cloth, some very minor toning to spines. A handsome group for your shelves, featuring (most of) his classic works. Due to the size/weight of this set extra charges will apply for international and/or expedited shipping. Red cloth boards with gilt stamped titles, octavos, various paginations, illustrated in b&w. Books show some toning to some spines, wear to spines that includes some small tears to ends and small scuff to cloth on one volume (Little Dorrit I), faint soil and rubbing, bindings tight, a few pencil signatures to front endpapers, otherwise texts clean and unmarked with gentle toning throughout, top edges gilt with mild dust. THIS LARGE, HEAVY SET WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SHIPPING FEES.

New York: Hurst & Co., 122 Nassau St., [1904]. Fifteen vols. Approx. 14,000 pp. Frntsps. each vol., numerous plates and illusts. Uniformly bound in publisher’s three-quarter brown calf over marbled boards, marbled endpapers, elaborately gilt decorated spines, brown & blk & gilt morocco spine labels, marbled fore-edges (mnr rubbng, some mnr soilng to the foot of spines, toned paper as usual for Hurst), still an attractive and very nice set. First Hurst edition of Charles Dickens’ works, with illustrations. Of particular interest is the publisher’s calf binding which was quite unusual for Hurst & Company.

London: Chapman and Hall, [c.1890].. Nineteen volumes. 8vo. Uniformly bound in contemporary red half morocco over green cloth boards, spines with raised bands, gilt lettered direct to two panels, the other compartments with a gilt flower device, marbled endpapers. Numerous plates and illustrations in the text throughout by the likes of Cruikshank, Phiz etc., as per earlier editions. Uneven fading and marking to spines plus some general rubbing. An undated edition, likely stereotyped from previous editions, the bindings would appear to be from the either the 1880s and 1890s. Forster's Life and Pierce's Dictionary were both first published in 1872.
